A furry family’s journey to hope

A furry family’s journey to hope

The combined efforts of many groups worked diligently over the past couple of weeks to remove a large number of dogs & puppies, from the isolated community of Sandy Lake ~ reducing the over-population issue. Many of these rescued dogs and puppies would not have survived the harsh winter with no food or shelter. The other option would be to ‘cull’ the population ~ remember there are no vets available.

The Lucky London 13 – a Petscort success

We’ve been calling this sweet family The Lucky London 13. Admittedly there isn’t much lucky about being born a bully breed in Ontario, and Mom Harmony sure didn’t have much luck – tied in a basement where she was used for breeding, and then tried to sell her when tired of breeding her.

Remote communities, across Canada, are much different from the urban lifestyle most of us enjoy. That which we take for granted is often a luxury in those communities. Veterinarian care is virtually impossible to locate, in these communities.

Chenille lived in one of these remote communities. Her people knew that Chenille’s pups had little to no chance of a home (or survival) if she remained. With Chenille, and her unborn pups, best interest at heart she was surrendered to Centre d’Adoption d’Animaux de Compagnie du Québec (caacQ).

Did We Say We Would Never fly a Bear?

Bear, a 5-year-old long-haired Chihuahua, needed a ride from Regina to Kamloops – that is a long journey. He was an owner-surrender going to Pommy Country Rescue. He had some special medical needs and Pommy Country was committed to ensuring he would be well looked after.

Roscoe – ‘black dog syndrome’, he waited 1 1/2 years

On October 30th, we were able to start Roscoe’s journey to his forever home; a home that he waited on for a very long time to have … 1 1/2 years. “Black dog syndrome’ does exist (though we love the` black dogs) and Roscoe was a victim.
